The question on everyone’s lips (and teeth) is ‘do invisible braces exist?’ Braces are sort of known for being very, well, visible. They’re not the easiest orthodontic treatment to hide or disguise, with a lot of teens and adults being somewhat embarrassed of their appearance. If you could picture braces that were the total inverse and opposite of what you know them to be now, what would they be like? Clear, removable, more comfortable, and with faster treatment time, no doubt. Here’s the exciting part: these invisible braces do exist! Let us introduce you to Invisalign.

What are Invisalign invisible braces?

Invisalign invisible braces are a unique and advanced orthodontic treatment that straighten your teeth in much a shorter treatment time than regular braces. They are aligners made of clear plastic that fit over your teeth like a very discrete gum shield, slowly guiding them into position.

Will I have to limit my diet?

This is where Invisalign really begins to trump traditional braces in the orthodontics arena, because they’re entirely removable. This means you can take them out to eat and clean your teeth, resulting in you having your full pick of the menu. There are no wires and brackets for food debris to become caught in and nothing is off limits to you, as long as you take your aligners out to eat.

What’s the Invisalign treatment process?

Step One: Book and attend your Invisalign consultation with us at Manor Dental Health. Once found suitable, we’ll take impressions and digital scans of your teeth to make your bespoke Invisalign aligners for. These are 3D printed to match your exact teeth. Once these are made, you can pick them up from our dental practice in Hull and begin your journey!

Step Two: Wear your aligners for 22 hours a day to ensure you get the best results possible. As your treatment journey continues, you’ll receive different aligners with slightly different positions for your teeth, ensuring they are gently guided into position. You’ll receive a new set of aligners every few weeks to keep your teeth straightening journey ticking over.

Step Three: Straight teeth, here we are! We’ll present you with a retainer of your brand-new results so that you may preserve them for as long as possible. If you don’t wear this retainer, your teeth could begin to drift out of their new straightened position. Just like a traditional brace, you’ll still need to pay attention to your results retention. You could achieve your optimum results in as little as 6 months, shaving traditional braces treatment in half!

What does Invisalign do?

Invisalign straightens your teeth, but they’re capable of correcting the issues that traditional braces do. Because of their many aesthetic appearances, you’d be forgiven for thinking that they didn’t provide the same health results as traditional braces. However, Invisalign are actually very effective at treating bite issues such as open bites, crowing, cross bites, and deep or over-bites. They don’t just straighten your teeth and close unwanted gaps, but they actually realign many different teeth positions too. Straightening your teeth in general is a very beneficial for your dental health, as we answered the question of are braces bad for you? in a previous blog post.

Invisible braces are the latest evolution in orthodontics. With Invisalign, you could achieve your desired results in a comparatively more comfortable and faster treatment journey. Find out more by enquiring online or speak to a friendly member of our team on 01482 563593 today!
